New brightness sensor replaces previous model

The new and improved version of our brightness sensor has been available in the B+B online store for several months now (item number SHOP 0555 3005), replacing the previous version.

Externally, the sensor remains unobtrusive and simple; thanks to a smaller lens, it blends even more discreetly into any application. Technically, it has been further developed in several areas:

  • Measuring range: Instead of a fixed measurement range, the new sensor covers three ranges (0…1,000 lux, 0…10,000 lux, 0…100,000 lux) in a single device—selectable via DIP switches. The new version thus replaces all three predecessor models, each of which had a fixed measurement range.
  • Voltage output: In addition to 0…10 V, 0…5 V is now also available, which can likewise be set via a DIP switch. The sensor also features an invertible output, for example, for controlling LED controllers.
  • Switching output: A new feature is an adjustable switching output with a solid-state relay that switches when the brightness level selected via a potentiometer is exceeded.

Improvements have also been made to the lens itself: It provides 10% better directional sensitivity compared to the previous version. As a result, the sensor detects incoming light from the respective direction even more precisely.

The new version is directly compatible with existing installations and can easily replace the previous version. The price remains the same—the new version costs no more than the old one, despite numerous technical improvements and an expanded range of features.
