Precise measurement of temperature and humidity for efficient heating and air conditioning systems

In modern buildings, the collection of environmental data such as outdoor temperature and humidity plays a crucial role in comfort, energy efficiency, and intelligent control of heating and air conditioning systems. Outdoor sensors with integrated transducers are indispensable components that continuously measure the temperature and, if required, the relative humidity outside and transmit these measurements.

The outdoor sensor: your piggy bank on the wall of your house

The data obtained is used by the heating control system to automatically adjust the flow temperature, for example. This principle, also known as weather-compensated control, ensures that the heating output is precisely adjusted to the current weather conditions and outside temperatures. The flow temperature remains as low as possible, which saves noticeably on gas and oil heating systems and is absolutely essential for economical operation of heat pumps.

Our outdoor sensor is not only used in heating systems, but also in air conditioning systems, ventilation systems, and smart home solutions. A modern air conditioning system not only cools the air, but it also dehumidifies it. This consumes a lot of energy.

If the outdoor sensor reports that the outside air is warm but very dry, the control system can specifically reduce the dehumidification output. The system then has to work less intensively to create a pleasant indoor climate.

Why outdoor sensors are particularly important in spring

With the onset of spring, weather conditions often change very rapidly. Warm sunny days alternate with cool mornings or sudden drops in temperature. It is precisely during this transition period that an outdoor sensor plays a particularly important role in the efficient control of a wide variety of systems. Underfloor heating systems in particular are often slow to respond and take longer to react. The outdoor sensor acts as an “early warning system,” signaling the rise in temperature caused by the spring sun before the house turns into a greenhouse.

Key benefits at a glance

  • Integrated transmitter with 0-10V or 4-20mA output signal
  • Optionally available with display – current measured values visible at a glance
  • Indispensable for controlling and regulating heating and cooling systems
  • Reduction of energy consumption and costs
  • Predictive control of air conditioning systems
  • Ideal for smart home systems

Conclusion: Precise measurements as the basis for low operating costs

Outdoor sensors for measuring temperature and humidity are a key component of modern building and heating technology. They provide precise environmental data, enable intelligent control of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems thanks to integrated transducers, and make a decisive contribution to reducing energy consumption, lowering operating costs, and improving living comfort in the long term. Especially in times of rising energy costs and growing sustainability requirements, B+B outdoor sensors are indispensable aids for your building.
