Overview of the design

A classic cable probe consists of three key components:

• Stainless steel measuring tip/sleeve – reliably protects the actual sensor from mechanical impact, moisture, and external stresses. Depending on the application, rounded or flat measuring tips are available to ensure optimal temperature measurement.
• Sensor element – available as Pt1000, Pt100, NTC, KTY81, or DS18S20 (1-Wire), ensuring the right sensor type is available for nearly every application.
• Connection cable – typically an inexpensive copper cable with PVC insulation. For higher temperature resistance, versions with PTFE, FEP, PFA, or glass fiber insulation are also available. Connection is made in the traditional manner via bare wire ends with wire end ferrules.
